We went to the Pumpkin festival a few weeks ago. The Parks Dept owns a big empty property outside of town. Each year, they turn it into a big family day with food booths, kids games, face painting, pony rides, and of course, the pumpkin patch. Owen's not very into the games yet (maybe in 2-3 years!), but we feel like this is as good a time as any to start some family traditions. Plus, the view of the mountains is great out there and Owen always enjoys being outdoors.
We did think the "pumpkin patch" was a little strange... where are the vines? At least this makes it easy to find the one you want. And who can pass up pumpkins for $2.50? We probably won't get around to carving them before Wednesday, but at least our porch looks festive.
Now that we live in Oregon, we have to work a little harder to represent our purple and gold. We had Dan and Jill over with their baby, Joseph to watch the UofO game. Joseph had his Duck gear on, and Owen worked hard to show his Husky spirit. The game ended ugly for our dawgs, but we feel better knowing that UofO beat USC this weekend. Let's just hope that Jake Locker leads our team to some more wins over the next couple years - Owen needs a reason to learn the fight song...

a) really? family traditions? right on.
b) go dawgs, despite the depressed state of the football team. i'm proud to be related to you guys.
that's hilarious. did they just take a truck out & scatter the things around the field??
glad to hear you're representin'!! personally, i'm hiding under tables. :(
What a funny pumpkin patch! What makes it even funnier is that I was just looking at other pumpkin patch photos on another friend's blog. Compare these two pumpkin patches:

Pumpkins must grow better in Texas. :-)
Yes, we have actual pumpkin patches around (with the vines), but they just truck these in for the family day. It's pretty funny to watch all the kids run to the far corner of the field to choose their pumpkin and then Dad has to haul it all the way back to the car. =)
Staci, you have to stand up and face the humiliation when the team is crummy, so you can be proud when they win it all in two years...
is that kid getting more hair?
It's good to see some purple and gold. It's been too long!
yeah, i s'pose so. i'll start tomorrow. er, that would be saturday.
Utah had a lot of those kinds of pumpkin patches too. I thought it was so weird. Owen looks great in his Husky gear!
You know Opie would look a lot better in a COUG shirt!!! Please don't harm the boy anymore than you already have with the Husky garb.
