Just Call Me...

Did your grandparents have their own nicknames? When we were growing up, we called all our grandparents “grandma” and “grandpa” somehow managing to avoid confusion over who was who. Sure, we sometimes asked my mom if that was the “Arizona Grandma” or the “Thanksgiving Grandma” but we figured it out. In other families, every grandparent has their own nickname – pop pop, nana and papa, oma and opa if you’re Scandinavian, maybe baba and dadu if you’re Russian. Sara’s mom was Grandma Cha Cha for a while. Do people name themselves or do these things just evolve? Only time will tell…

Grandma Sue or Nana?

Will Grandma Ethel get a nickname?

yeah we didn't have nicknames, and i always thought it was a little weird when people did that. but i guess it's just how things evolve. all my neices and nephew call me gi-gi, because jared thought it would be funny to call me that and see if it caught on. i think carson was like 2 before he realized my real first name was angie. love your blog. it's crazy that all you guys have kids.
